Green Elephant is the pure Ceylon green tea of the Ceylon Elephant range by Battler, packed as 100 g of loose leaf in a carton.
Green tea is steamed or pan-fired soon after plucking, so the leaf is not oxidised as black tea is. The result is a pale cup with a clean, grassy taste and light vegetal notes, with no added flavour.
In the pack
- 100 g of loose leaf tea in a carton.
- Ingredient: pure Ceylon green tea, GP grade.
- Keep the tea closed, cool and dry, away from strong smells. The maker gives a shelf life of three years.
Tasting notes
Light and clean, with a fresh grassy aroma, gentle vegetal notes and a pale golden liquor.
How to brew
- Use one teaspoon of leaf (about 2.5 g) per cup.
- Let boiled water cool to about 80 C.
- Steep for 2 to 3 minutes; longer steeping makes green tea bitter.
Serving ideas
Drink it plain, or add a slice of lemon or a few fresh mint leaves. The same leaf can usually be steeped a second time. Move it to an airtight jar once the carton is open.
