About this experience
El Parque Nacional de Wasgamuwa se extiende por los Distritos de Matale y Polonnaruwa y se cuenta entre las reservas de vida silvestre más destacadas de Sri Lanka. Su paisaje variado —que abarca pastizales abiertos, áreas boscosas y hábitats ribereños— alberga una gama extraordinaria de especies, especialmente grandes manadas de elefantes junto con osos perezosos, leopardos y una rica diversidad de aves.
Un safari guiado de tres horas en jeep permite a los visitantes recorrer las diferentes zonas de hábitat del parque en compañía de un conductor local de habla inglesa, quien posee familiaridad con el terreno y la vida silvestre residente. Las primeras horas de la mañana y el final de la tarde siguen siendo los mejores momentos para visitar, ofreciendo condiciones más frescas y la mayor probabilidad de avistamientos mientras los animales se desplazan por su entorno natural.

Very quiet park but its a long drive in.
Only 7 jeeps in the park the whole day. We found it good for birds but less so for anything other than the common creatures. Good number of open spaces.

Relaxed morning
We were traveling with the driver Shameera. He speaks a bit of German and has a lot of experience as he has been touring for 10 years. He told us a lot about the animals. It was a nice morning!
