About this experience
Le parc national de Wasgamuwa s'étend sur les districts de Matale et de Polonnaruwa et figure parmi les plus importantes réserves fauniques du Sri Lanka. Son paysage varié — englobant des prairies ouvertes, des zones forestières et des habitats riverains — abrite une gamme remarquable d'espèces, notamment de grands troupeaux d'éléphants aux côtés d'ours paresseux, de léopards et d'une riche diversité d'avifaune.
Un safari guidé de trois heures en jeep permet aux visiteurs de se déplacer à travers les différentes zones d'habitat du parc en compagnie d'un chauffeur local parlant anglais, qui connaît bien le terrain et la faune qui y réside. Les premières heures du matin et la fin de l'après-midi restent les meilleurs moments pour visiter, offrant des conditions plus fraîches et la plus grande probabilité d'observations alors que les animaux se déplacent dans leurs environnements naturels.

Very quiet park but its a long drive in.
Only 7 jeeps in the park the whole day. We found it good for birds but less so for anything other than the common creatures. Good number of open spaces.

Relaxed morning
We were traveling with the driver Shameera. He speaks a bit of German and has a lot of experience as he has been touring for 10 years. He told us a lot about the animals. It was a nice morning!
