A 100 g pack of OP1 (Orange Pekoe 1) black tea from Mackwoods, a hand-plucked, single estate Ceylon tea.
OP1 is a long, wiry leaf grade. The leaf stays whole or nearly so, and the cup is light and delicate rather than heavy.
In the pack
- 100 g of loose leaf black tea
- Single estate, unblended
How to brew
Use one level teaspoon (about 2 to 2.5 g) of leaf per cup of freshly boiled water and infuse for 3 to 5 minutes. A delicate tea like this is often drunk without milk.
Storage
Keep the pack closed in a cool, dry place, away from strong smells.
Mackwoods was founded in Ceylon in 1841 by Captain William Mackwood and is one of the oldest trading houses in Sri Lanka. Tea has been part of its business from the start.
