About this experience
Your chauffeur collects you from your Beruwala hotel at 08:00 and heads south along the coast. The first stop, at around 09:30, is the Handunugoda Tea Factory — home to one of the world's rarest luxury teas. A ninety-minute guided tour reveals how Virgin White Tea is produced entirely without human hands touching the leaf, reviving a centuries-old Chinese tradition. From there, a short drive brings you to Ahangama by 11:00, where you watch stilt fishermen balance over the surf and hear directly from them how the technique works. Lunch follows at a local restaurant in Galle at 13:15.
The afternoon is spent inside the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Galle Fort. Walk the cobblestoned Dutch-named streets, visit the Galle Lighthouse and the National Maritime Museum, and take in the colonial ramparts that have survived three foreign invasions. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide is with you throughout the full day. Hotel pickup, drop-off, a private air-conditioned vehicle, and a one-litre water bottle per person are all included. You return to Beruwala by approximately 17:30.
