This is a Sinhala translation of Alexander Pushkin's The Captain's Daughter — Капитанская дочка in the original Russian — made by Dedigama V. Rodrigo. The whole text is in Sinhala, so an overseas buyer should be reading the language before ordering.
Pushkin is regarded as a pioneer of the golden age of Russian literature, and this is one of his historical romances: a short work, but a forceful one, that sits on the border between a novel and a historical account. What it holds together is a private love story on one side and the intensity of a violent political and social upheaval on the other.
The translation has appeared before under other publishers' imprints. It now comes from M. D. Gunasena, issued with the official permission of the Russian embassy.
Of interest to Sinhala readers of translated world fiction, and to anyone following how Russian literature has reached Sri Lankan readers through translators such as Rodrigo.
