Dhanu and Meena Porondam

Dhanu (Sagittarius) and Meena (Pisces) are both ruled by Jupiter, which gives this pairing a notable point in common at the rashi level. Here we explain what the calculator finds for each direction, with the bride in one sign and the groom in the other, and why the two birth stars matter most. Throughout, rashi means the moon sign (chandra rashi) in the sidereal zodiac used in Sri Lanka, not the sun sign printed in newspapers.

What happens when the bride is Dhanu and the groom is Meena?

Counting from the bride's sign to the groom's, Meena is the 4th sign from Dhanu. In Sinhala porondam, the rashi item is partly obtained for this count, while in Tamil porutham the rasi item is not obtained. The two systems weigh the same count a little differently, which is why they can disagree.

The rashi lords are both Jupiter, the same planet, so rashyadhipathi (rasi adhipathi in Tamil) is obtained in both systems. Vashya, which looks at natural attraction between the signs, is also obtained in both. So in this direction, two of the three rashi-level items are fully obtained and one is mixed.

What changes when the bride is Meena and the groom is Dhanu?

Reversing the direction changes the count. From Meena, Dhanu is the 10th sign, and for this count the rashi item is obtained in both Sinhala porondam and Tamil porutham.

With Jupiter ruling both signs, the rashi lords are the same planet, so rashyadhipathi is again obtained in both systems. Vashya, however, is not obtained in either system in this direction.

This shows why direction matters: the same two signs give a different picture depending on which partner holds which rashi. Neither direction is complete on its own, and none of these rashi items settles the match by itself.

Why do the birth stars decide the real match?

Rashi items are only part of the picture. Most porondam and porutham items, including gana, yoni, rajju and nakshatra-based checks, depend on the two birth stars (nakshatra) and their quarters. Each sign holds parts of several stars, so a Dhanu–Meena pairing covers 81 possible star-quarter combinations in each direction.

Those combinations vary a great deal. With a Dhanu bride and Meena groom, about 20% reach 8 of 10 Tamil porutham items; with a Meena bride and Dhanu groom, about 26% do. In both directions, none of the combinations fall into the calculator's weak Tamil range, and none show a Tamil rajju clash. All combinations pass Sinhala porondam when the weekday item is set aside.

How should families use these results?

Treat the rashi results as a starting point, not a verdict. Two people with the same pair of moon signs can have quite different star-level outcomes, so the most useful step is to run the calculator with full birth details: date, exact time and place of birth for both partners. This lets the engine work out the precise moon sign, birth star and quarter.

For an actual marriage decision, it is wise to take the full results to a family astrologer, who can read the whole horoscope, including factors beyond porondam, and explain them in the context of your family's customs. Matching is one thoughtful consideration among many, alongside the couple's own understanding and their families' support.
