Rolled cinnamon quills, packed by Malwatte in a 25g printed card carton. Quills are made by peeling the thin inner bark of the cinnamon tree and rolling the layers into sticks that dry into firm, papery tubes.
Malwatte grows cinnamon on its own estates in Sri Lanka and processes it at its cinnamon factory on the Talduwa division of Vincit Estate. Sri Lankan cinnamon is the thin-barked, delicately flavoured kind often sold as Ceylon cinnamon.

In the kitchen
Drop a piece of quill into the oil at the start of a Sri Lankan meat or vegetable curry, simmer it in rice, milk puddings and syrups, or steep it in mulled wine, tea and hot chocolate. Remove the quill before serving. The 25g carton is a handy size for a small household.
Storage
Keep the carton tightly closed, or tip the contents into an airtight jar once opened, and store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
