Wilpattu je největší národní park Sri Lanky — rozsáhlá oblast suchých lesů, otevřené trávnatiny a přírodních jezer, kde se sloni pohybují mezi stromovou linií a leopardi přecházejí osluněné vzdálené oblasti. Terén se neustále mění: hustý listnatý porost ustupuje světlým pískům, pak následuje zrcadlový klid břehu jezera — vše je domovem různých druhů jelenů, barevných motýlů a ptáků. V parku najezdíte až 45 kilometrů v osobním vozidle, přičemž váš řidič vypíná motor pokaždé, když se něco pohne, čte terén s pozorností stopáře, který zná každý kout tohoto parku.
Váš jeep je určen pouze vaší skupině — žádní další cestovatelé se vás neúčastní. Vyberte si dobu trvání, která vyhovuje vašim plánům: zaměřený okruh na 3 hodiny, důkladnou 6hodinovou jízdu nebo plný 9hodinový den v různorodém terénu parku. Jeep pojme až šest cestujících a Lakpura účtuje dle vozidla, takže náklady na osobu se snižují s růstem vaší skupiny. Při rezervaci si rozhodnete, zda zahrnout vstupné do parku nebo si je koupit sami u vrat; k jakékoli kombinaci můžete přidat i volitelného průvodce přírodovědce — s lístky či bez — abyste si vyjasnili to, co vidíte a rozumíte po cestě.
