This is a genuine spare blade for the Odiris Coconut Grater, made from stainless steel and produced by Odiris Engineering Co (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka. It is a direct replacement for the cutting component that does the work in any compatible Odiris coconut scraper, keeping the tool performing as it should when the original blade eventually wears.
Odiris Engineering has been making coconut scrapers since 1952, when the company introduced Sri Lanka's first table-top, hand-cranked coconut grater. That heritage is printed plainly on the blade's own packaging, which carries the 'SINCE 1952' mark alongside the Sinhala tagline 'SIYARATA DE SIRISAPA DE'. The packaging also notes 'MADE IN CEYLON', a reference to the company's origins that speaks to a manufacturing tradition stretching back to when Ceylon was still the country's name. The blade is registered as an industrial design under reference REF D-1782, a detail that reflects the engineering seriousness Odiris brings to what might otherwise seem a small component.
The blade is offered in two size options, listed on this page as 5 cm and 6 cm. Buyers should select the size that matches their existing Odiris coconut scraper model. The 5 cm option corresponds to the B5 model scraper, while the 6 cm option is intended for use with the A8 model. Choosing the correct size ensures the blade seats properly and the scraper functions as designed.
Stainless steel gives the blade its durability and resistance to the moisture inherent in working with fresh coconut. The manufacturer recommends wiping the blade clean with a damp cloth and drying it thoroughly after each wash — straightforward care that preserves the metal over time. The blade arrives as a packaged spare, so it is ready to store until it is needed, saving the inconvenience of sourcing a replacement at short notice.
