Damro Labookellie Silver Tips is a rare white tea: only the unopened buds of the TRI 2043 tea cultivar are plucked, by hand and selectively, and then dried by a natural process rather than rolled and fermented. The silvery buds brew an almost colourless, very aromatic liquor.
Labookellie is one of the oldest and largest tea estates in Sri Lanka, in the Dimbula growing region of the Nuwara Eliya District, with tea fields above 4,900 feet. Brew it gently: water at about 80 C, a heaped teaspoon per cup, three to five minutes, and the same buds will take a second infusion.
