Ruhunu Elephant OP1 is a low-grown Ceylon black tea from the Ceylon Elephant range of Battler, named after Ruhuna, the southern tea region of Sri Lanka. OP1 is a long, wiry Orange Pekoe leaf.
It brews a deep, full-bodied liquor with a bold taste and malty undertones. The tea is packed in a tin caddy and sold in two sizes; pick one above. Both tins keep the leaf well once opened and make a sturdy gift.
In the pack
- 100g loose leaf OP1 in a tin caddy
- 200g loose leaf OP1 in a tin caddy
- Ingredients: pure Ceylon black tea, OP1 grade
- Shelf life: 3 years from packing
Tasting notes
Strong and full, with a dark liquor, a malty depth and a smooth, earthy finish.
How to brew
- Use one teaspoon (about 2.5 g) of leaf per cup.
- Pour on freshly boiled water.
- Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain.
Serving ideas
Excellent with milk for a strong breakfast cup. Long leaves open slowly, so give it the full 5 minutes when brewing a pot.
