Baraka Virgin Coconut Oil is cold pressed from the fresh kernel of the coconut (Cocos nucifera) and bottled in glass. It is part of the Baraka range made in Ratmalana, south of Colombo.
It is sold in several glass bottle sizes; pick one above. The oil is made from fresh kernel rather than copra, the dried coconut used for ordinary coconut oil, which gives it a clean, mild coconut aroma. According to the maker, more than 64% of its fatty acids are medium chain fatty acids, and about 76% of those are lauric acid.
In the pack
- One glass bottle of virgin coconut oil, in the size you choose above
How it is used
- In cooking: frying, curries, sambols, rice and baking
- Stirred into smoothies or spread on toast when solid
- On the skin and hair as a plain moisturising oil, or as a carrier oil for massage
Storage
Keep the bottle closed, in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Virgin coconut oil sets solid below about 24°C and melts again in warmth; stand the bottle in warm water to loosen it. This does not affect the oil.
Made in Sri Lanka by Bio Extracts (Pvt) Ltd, Ratmalana, the maker of the Baraka range.
