Nuga Sewana Eden sits within a beautifully manicured two-acre garden that looks out over the breathtaking Tangalle Bay. Positioned between Matara and Hambantota along Sri Lanka's southern coast, this independent, family-run hotel offers a quietly intimate base from which to explore one of the island's most rewarding stretches of coastline.

The hotel is approximately 195 km from Colombo and can be reached via the Colombo–Galle–Hambantota main motorway. The Southern Railway currently ends at Matara, which is about 35 km from Tangalle, though the line is being extended towards Hambantota Port.

Accommodation

The hotel houses 10 clean, spacious, and air-conditioned rooms suited to families and groups of friends travelling together. Each room opens onto a balcony with generous views of the garden and the beach beyond. Room amenities include free Wi-Fi, a satellite television, and an attached bathroom. Guests are kindly asked not to feed the monkeys and birds that roam freely around the property.

Dining

An open-air terrace restaurant provides magnificent views of the beach and serves menus crafted around fresh seafood, Sri Lankan rice and curry, and dishes prepared with fresh vegetables and meat. Beverages can be ordered to complement any meal or mood. The setting — open to the garden and the sea breeze — makes dining here as much a sensory experience as a culinary one.

Activities and Excursions

The beach is just minutes away on foot, and the calm seas between October and April make the area popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. Divers can explore coral reefs and encounter colourful fish and sea turtles beneath the surface.

Further afield, turtle watching can be experienced at Rekawa, a seaside rural community engaged in fishing and agriculture. Other nearby places of interest include the 210-metre-high Mulgirigala Rock, the Kudawella blowhole — also known as the Hummanaya — Bundala National Park, a wetland habitat for migratory birds, and the renowned Yala National Park.
