Kadju House, Tangalle, Sri Lanka

Perched atop a small hill and secluded amidst lush tropical foliage, Kadju House sits just outside the fishing village of Tangalle in Sri Lanka's Southern territory. The property blends a serene and intimate atmosphere with direct access to a pristine beach, offering complete privacy for its guests.

The guesthouse is located approximately 190 km from Colombo, nestled within a cashew grove on a hilltop overlooking the Indian Ocean. The drive along the coastal belt towards the South takes between four and five hours depending on the time of day, passing beautiful beaches and historical sites that have long attracted visitors from Sri Lanka and abroad. For those preferring public transport, buses serve the route, and trains currently travel only as far as Matara — with Tangalle a further 35 km beyond.

Accommodation

Kadju House offers four bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. The four rooms comprise three double rooms — one of which is air-conditioned — and one room with twin beds. Sea and garden views are available from every room, and each space is finished with subtle luxuries and an elegant minimalist design.

Sea Room

The Sea Room's balcony looks out over both the large tropical garden and the Indian Ocean. Guests can lie in bed and watch the waves meet the shoreline, or take their time soaking in the tub.

Courtyard Room

This air-conditioned suite opens onto its own secluded garden, which features a cashew tree, ginger flowers, and a pond planted with night-blooming Manel flowers. The outdoor shower is open to the sky and shaded by a frangipani tree. The room also includes a private deck with a sea view.

Pool Room

Designed for complete privacy from the rest of the property, the Pool Suite has high ceilings, a beautiful sea view, and opens directly onto a private deck and tropical garden. Guests can even catch a glimpse of the ocean from the shower.

Garden Room

Opening onto a lush garden filled with fruit trees, the Garden Suite has twin beds and is particularly well suited to families with children. Its bathtub sits alongside a pond of lilies and is traditionally filled with fragrant flowers.

Facilities

Beyond the rooms, Kadju House offers a cinnamon-walled Ayurvedic Spa and an infinity pool with magnificent sea views. The resident staff includes a gourmet chef, and fresh seafood as well as organic ingredients are widely available to complement the dining experience.
