Elephant Watch Hut Habarana is a small eco-lodge in the Sigiriya area, built around a simple idea: put guests close enough to the elephant corridor that wild elephants may wander past at dawn and dusk. It is run as a community enterprise, with local families involved in both the lodge and its upkeep.
Rooms are offered in three categories — Standard, Superior and Deluxe — each kept rustic and open rather than heavily furnished, in keeping with the lodge's low-impact style. Many of the huts have a deck looking out over a pond, the spot where elephants are most often seen after dark or in the early morning.
Facilities are basic but purposeful:
Meal plans range from room only to bed and breakfast, half board and full board, so guests can choose how much of their stay is catered. It suits travellers who want a genuine, low-key wildlife stay rather than a conventional hotel experience.
Bookable activities, tours, and tickets within a 25 km radius.
