Block 5 leads you deep into a quieter corner of Yala, Sri Lanka's most famous wildlife sanctuary, where fewer vehicles make for a more natural and respectful safari. Its dry-zone landscape of open plains, thorny scrub, forest patches and waterholes draws animals throughout the day, rewarding patient, mindful observation over the rush of the crowds.

Leopards are the great draw here, and Block 5 is especially prized by those who prefer a calmer route. Depending on the season you may also meet elephants, crocodiles, wild boar, water buffalo, spotted and sambar deer and golden jackals, while lagoons and scrubland bring peacocks, herons, storks, pelicans, spoonbills and more. Throughout, safe distances are kept and wildlife is never chased.
