A picture book for young children from Sybil Wettasinghe, published in English by M. D. Gunasena & Co. of Colombo. It belongs to one of the later series of children's story books she wrote.
The book is set in large type across a small extent, which puts it within reach of primary school children reading on their own or with an adult beside them. Colour paintings run through it, pitched at readers at the youngest end of the shelf.
Sybil Wettasinghe was a Sri Lankan writer and illustrator of children's books, working in both Sinhala and English. Her pictures and her stories come together in the same hand, which is part of what gives her books their particular character.
Suitable for a child beginning to read independently, for reading aloud at home, and for anyone building a collection of Sri Lankan children's literature in English.
