One of the titles in The Little Heroes Series, a set of English-language picture books from M. D. Gunasena & Co. written for young children. The series was put together to introduce important values in a simple and entertaining way, using stories rather than instruction.
The approach throughout is practical: good conduct is shown inside a story a small child can follow, so the lesson arrives through the characters and what happens to them. The books are written in English, which makes them useful in homes and classrooms where parents are reading with children in English or building early reading confidence in a second language.
M. D. Gunasena & Co. is a long-established Colombo publisher and bookseller with a substantial list of school and children's titles. Readers who take to this one may want to look for the other books in the same series, which share its format and aim.
