This is a Sinhala-language book, written and printed entirely in Sinhala script. Readers without Sinhala will not be able to follow it.
It tells the story of Nick, born in a hospital in Melbourne, Australia, without arms or legs — a birth that astonished not only his mother and father but the whole medical staff attending it. His disability brought him hardship, frustration, ridicule and setbacks. The book describes how he came through all of it, drawing on human kindness, on devotion and on faith, and how he came to live a life he regarded as won rather than endured.
Nick addresses the reader directly. The invitation running through the book is that others might take the same road he took and overcome what stands in their own lives. It is first-person encouragement rather than analysis, and it is aimed at a general readership rather than a specialist one.
