A Sinhala handbook on nekath — the selection of auspicious times. The whole book is in Sinhala, with no English text, so it will suit readers who are comfortable reading the language.
Its subject is the practical business of fixing a good, strong auspicious moment. The approach works for two kinds of reader. Someone who already has a general grounding in astrology is shown how to construct a favourable nekatha. Someone with no astrological training at all is taken through the method of chula jyotisha, the lesser branch of the subject, which takes the day and the hour as its starting points and builds an auspicious time from there.
Rathuvithana Piyasena is the author. The book is published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, the established Colombo house that publishes in Sinhala and English.
Of interest to Sinhala readers who want to work out auspicious timings for themselves, and to anyone studying Sri Lankan astrological practice in the original language.
