A past paper collection for mathematics, published in English by M. D. Gunasena & Co. of Colombo, a long-established Sri Lankan publishing house issuing school and general titles in Sinhala and English.
The book carries the approval of the Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka. It contains question papers and worked answers only — no explanatory chapters, no syllabus summaries — and confines itself strictly to papers set under the new syllabus introduced after the mathematics curriculum was revised. Papers from consecutive examination years since that revision are reproduced, each followed by a methodical answer.
The answers were compiled under the supervision of experienced educationists in the subject and of examiners who mark answer scripts, so the working shown follows the form that marking expects rather than a shortcut route to the result. The pages have been laid out on computer with clear, uncluttered typesetting, the intention being that long sessions with the book do not tire the reader.
This is a revision volume for students sitting the mathematics paper, and for teachers and tutors who want the recent papers with full answers in one place. Readers outside Sri Lanka with a connection to the local examination system — families schooling abroad, or anyone preparing a candidate for the Sri Lankan syllabus — will find it serves the same purpose.
