A Sinhala novel about a woman who comes through life's collisions and setbacks and makes something of her own out of them. The story follows her across the stages of a woman's life — as a girl, as a woman and as a mother — and treats patience, kindness and motherhood not as passive virtues but as the means by which she carries out a quiet revolution of her own.

Thushari Abeysekare writes fiction and directs television drama. Her other novels include Dooli Pinthaaru, Gangathomo and Apuwaki Ae Arana. For television she has written and directed Araariro, Sal Sapu Na and Hopalu Arana, and readers who know her screen work will recognise the same interest in domestic life and the inner weather of her characters.

Please note that this book is written entirely in Sinhala. There is no English text and no parallel translation, so it will suit readers who are comfortable reading Sinhala prose — Sri Lankans abroad keeping up with contemporary fiction from home, families who want Sinhala-language reading for the household, and students of the language working at a level where full-length novels are within reach.

It is published by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, a long-established Colombo publishing house and bookseller issuing titles in Sinhala and English. Contemporary Sinhala fiction of this kind is widely read at home but rarely stocked outside Sri Lanka, which is the reason for offering it here.
