A mathematics workbook for Grade One pupils, compiled by M. D. Gunasena & Co. to follow the new syllabus introduced for the primary grades in Sri Lanka. It was prepared by a panel of compilers with experience in teaching primary subjects, and is intended for use by children at that level and by the teachers working with them.
The text is entirely in Sinhala. Buyers outside Sri Lanka should order it on that basis: the instructions, exercises and headings are all in Sinhala script, so it suits a household or classroom where the language is read, or a Sinhala-medium school programme abroad.
Jayasiri Kospelawaththa is credited as author. M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd is a long-established Colombo publishing house whose list includes schoolbooks and educational material in Sinhala.
Workbooks of this kind are consumable by design — pupils write in them — so families following the local curriculum from overseas, or supplementing it at home, generally want a fresh copy per child.
