This is a Sinhala translation of Lorna Doone, the novel by the English writer Richard Doddridge Blackmore. The whole text is in Sinhala, so a reader who does not read the language will not be able to use it.
Blackmore's novel is a romance built around several historical figures of the seventeenth century, and it is on that footing — a love story set against real events and real people of the period — that it has long been classed. The Sinhala version is the work of Lal Premanath De Mel, an established author, who has carried the book over into Sinhala rather than abridging it into a summary.
