Pachchaperumal is a traditional Sri Lankan rice variety, sold here by Bowatte. It is one of the old local varieties that is still grown in every part of the country.
The maker suggests eating it with the bran left on, which is how traditional rice is usually eaten in Sri Lanka. It is cooked as a plain rice to serve with curries.
How to cook
Rinse the rice a few times, then boil it or cook it in a rice cooker. Rice with the bran on usually needs more water and a longer cooking time than polished white rice; see the label.
In the pack
One 500g pack of raw rice.
Storage
Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
