A Sinhala-language guide to Bodhi Puja, the Buddhist devotional offering made at the bo tree, written by Batuwangala Rahula Thero. Its subject is the use of Bodhi Puja to remove the troubles held to arise from unfavourable planetary influences — graha apala — and it sets out how the observance is conducted for that purpose.
The text is entirely in Sinhala, with no English translation, so it will be readable only by those comfortable in the language. Readers in Sri Lanka and in Sinhala-speaking households abroad will recognise the practice it describes: Bodhi Puja is among the most common forms of lay devotion on the island, often undertaken at times of illness, difficulty or uncertainty, and frequently on the advice of an astrologer.
