اصعد إلى قاربك الخاص وتوجه عبر المياه الهادئة المالحة في تجمع كالبيتيا — وهو امتداد شاسع يبلغ 126 ميل مربع يحدُّ حديقة ويلباتو الوطنية على الساحل الشمالي الغربي لسريلانكا. خلال أربع ساعات، تنزلق بجانب أحواض الملح والكثبان الرملية البعيدة ومزارع الروبيان والقرى الصيدية الصغيرة، بينما تطل الغابات المفتوحة وأشجار جوز الهند والأراضي الرطبة على الشاطئ. يرافقك عالم طبيعة خبير على متن القارب مع منظار ثنائي العينين، ويشير إلى الحياة النباتية والحيوانية وحياة الطيور — الأنواع المتوطنة والشائعة على حد سواء — التي تجعل التجمع موطنها.
