The hotel gives Yala National Park, famous for its leopards and elephants, as 19 kilometres away, and the bird-rich lagoons of Bundala National Park lie to the south-west. In Tissamaharama itself the great white Tissamaharama stupa rises above the town. The hotel puts Magul Maha Viharaya at 17.3 kilometres, the Kataragama temple at 19.1 kilometres, the rock monastery of Sithulpawwa at 30.5 kilometres and Kirinda Beach, below the clifftop Kirinda temple, at 11.8 kilometres. The Weerawila bird sanctuary is just north of town.
Tissamaharama is about 184 kilometres from Bandaranaike International Airport in a straight line, and the usual route follows the Southern Expressway most of the way. The simplest way to arrive is a private transfer from Colombo airport to EKHO Safari, which takes you all the way to the door. If your flight uses the much smaller Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, it is only about 18 kilometres away in a straight line.
It suits travellers coming for Yala and Bundala who want a comfortable base with a pool and a lake view to return to after an early game drive, and families who need a suite.
