Your private jeep rolls into Bundala's swampy marshes and the birdlife announces itself immediately. Your driver doubles as your tracker, cutting the engine whenever movement catches the eye — a painted stork picking through the shallows, a flock of migratory waders lifting off the lagoon, or one of the park's 52 recorded butterfly species drifting past the rushes. The park shelters nearly 400 plant species and around 200 birds, 58 of them migratory, alongside mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish. The wetland habitats shift constantly across the circuit, and so does the wildlife within them — keep your binoculars and camera ready at every turn.
Your booking secures the entire jeep — a private 4WD built for Bundala's terrain — for between one and six guests, so the pace and focus are entirely yours. Choose a three-hour circuit for a focused outing or a full nine-hour day to cover the park in depth. At checkout you decide whether to add park entrance tickets through Lakpura or pay for them in cash at the gate yourself. You may also add a guide on top of your jeep booking — an optional extra that brings specialist knowledge to every sighting, turning a good drive into a genuinely informed one.
