Step aboard a traditional boat and glide across Tissa Wewa, a vast reservoir constructed by the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. From the centre of the lake, you take in sweeping views of the surrounding landscape — lush greenery, historic shorelines, and the quiet stillness that makes this spot unlike anywhere else in the south. A one-litre bottle of water and life jackets are provided for your comfort and safety throughout the one-hour private tour.
Tissamaharama is a natural base for exploring the nearby national parks, and the lake itself is part of that same wildlife-rich environment. Keep your eyes open for waterbirds and monitor lizards along the banks as your guide steers you across the calm water. Gratuities and any additional food or drinks are not included, so plan accordingly before you head to the jetty.
