Step aboard a traditional boat and glide across Tissa Wewa, a vast reservoir constructed by the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. From the centre of the lake, you take in sweeping views of the surrounding landscape — lush greenery, historic shorelines, and the quiet stillness that makes this spot unlike anywhere else in the south. A one-litre bottle of water and life jackets are provided for your comfort and safety throughout the one-hour private tour.
Tissamaharama is a natural base for exploring the nearby national parks, and the lake itself is part of that same wildlife-rich environment. Keep your eyes open for waterbirds and monitor lizards along the banks as your guide steers you across the calm water.
