The Paradise Resort & Spa, also known as the Green Paradise Agro Eco Hotel, is set amid the jungle and greenery of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle near Dambulla. Kandalama is 5.7 km away, Sigiriya 6.2 km and Dambulla 11.7 km, and the resort places its emphasis on eco-tourism.
The resort is about 129 km by road from Bandaranaike International Airport at Katunayake (123 km as the crow flies), and the drive usually takes 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic and the time of day. There are 67 eco villas in three categories. The 17 Deluxe Rooms have a queen-size bed, teak furniture, a private bathroom with a shower and a private veranda. The 40 Superior Duplex Rooms put the bedroom on the lower level and a living room on the first floor, sleep up to 4 guests with a king-size bed and have a large private veranda. The 10 Garden Suites are semi-detached, two suites to a unit with interconnecting doors, and each sleeps up to 4 with a king-size bed, wooden flooring, a Jacuzzi and a large private veranda for dining. Every room has air-conditioning, a television, a safe, a minibar and tea and coffee making facilities.
The Orchid Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from international menus, with theme nights on selected days; the Salt and Pepper Restaurant offers snacks and light meals in the afternoon and fine dining at night; Pizzeria Al Forno by the pool makes pizzas in the traditional way; and the Blue Elephant Bar serves cocktails to light music. There is a large outdoor swimming pool with a separate children's pool, a gym, a spa, a shopping arcade, internet access and a sports area for football and cricket, and the hotel hosts weekly fashion shows and traditional cultural shows. It is also popular with honeymooners.
Dambulla sits within the Cultural Triangle at a junction leading to many of the island's historic sites. The Dambulla Rock Temple and other temples are close by, Sigiriya, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are within easy reach, and wildlife safaris run in Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks. For sea and sand, Trincomalee is a longer excursion to the east coast.
