About this experience
Climb two of Sri Lanka's most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites in a single eight-hour private day trip from Sigiriya. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide collects you directly from your hotel and drives you in an air-conditioned vehicle to the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya — a fifth-century citadel rising 200 metres above the surrounding plains. Ascend the carved stairways, pass the famous frescoes, and take in sweeping views across the jungle canopy. Two 500 ml bottles of water per person are provided to keep you going on the climb.
From Sigiriya, you continue to the Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, a complex of five sacred caves sheltering over 150 Buddha statues and vivid ceiling murals spanning more than 2,100 square metres. Your guide brings context to both sites, tracing their history from ancient kings to present-day pilgrims. Entrance fees for both Sigiriya and Dambulla are not included, so carry local currency. Meals and personal expenses are also at your own cost.
