Steuarts Peach Tea is a flavoured Ceylon black tea made by George Steuart Teas, one of Sri Lanka's oldest and most established tea houses. The pack contains 25 tea bags, each individually wrapped in a paper envelope, with a net weight of 50g. The two ingredients are straightforward: black tea and peach flavour.
The black tea at the heart of this blend carries the Pure Ceylon Tea certification, backed by the Sri Lanka Tea Board's Lion Logo scheme under licence TC/E/PR/385/100. That designation means the tea is grown, manufactured and packed entirely in Sri Lanka, with no blending from any other origin. George Steuart Teas processes the tea at its own facility in Kelaniya, controlling buying, blending and packaging under one roof.
The brand behind the box has been trading since 1835, making George Steuart & Company the oldest mercantile establishment in Sri Lanka and the first on the country's company register. The company was among those who pivoted to tea after Ceylon's coffee crop was devastated by rust in the latter decades of the nineteenth century, and it has been exporting pure Ceylon tea to international markets ever since.
Brewing is uncomplicated: steep a bag to your preferred strength, add sugar or honey if you like, and serve hot. The pack directions also suggest refrigerating the brewed tea to drink cold, which makes it equally practical on a warm day. Each bag is sized for a single cup, and the paper envelope keeps each one fresh until you are ready to use it.
