Mlesna Soursop Green Tea is a 200-gram loose-leaf tea that brings together a Flowery BOP green tea base and soursop extracts in a single, characterful blend. The Flowery BOP grade — Broken Orange Pekoe with well-twisted delicate tips — is a cut that retains plenty of the leaf's natural brightness, and the soursop gives it a mild, tropical-fruit quality that sits lightly against the clean, grassy notes of the green tea itself.
Soursop is a broadleaf evergreen fruit tree native to the tropical Americas, now grown widely across tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The ripe fruit is known for its slightly acidic taste, which translates in the tea as a gentle citrus-like softness rather than anything sharp or overpowering. Mlesna's declared ingredients are straightforward: tea and natural flavours, a combination that keeps the cup uncomplicated and the character of both the leaf and the fruit clearly present.
Mlesna Tea was founded in Colombo in 1983 and has since grown into one of Sri Lanka's most widely exported tea brands, reaching more than fifty countries and holding a catalogue of thousands of individual products. The brand has been a consecutive recipient of Sri Lanka's Presidential Export Awards, with seventeen such awards recorded since 1986 — a record that reflects both the scale and the consistency of what the company produces.
Brewing is straightforward. One teaspoon per cup, freshly boiling water poured directly into the pot, then left to brew for no more than three minutes before the leaves are removed. The tea works well served hot and holds up equally well over ice, making it a practical choice across seasons and climates.
The 200-gram pack should be kept in a cool, dry place to preserve the integrity of the leaf and the soursop flavour. The packaging carries instructions in English and French, reflecting the tea's wide international distribution.
