Mlesna Soursop Green Tea is a fine green tea with soursop extracts, packed as 50 tea bags in a 100 gram box. It comes from Mlesna, the Sri Lankan tea house that Anselm Perera founded in 1983 and named after his own first name spelt backwards.
Natural soursop extracts are processed together with a mellow green tea, prepared according to traditional Chinese methods, to make what Mlesna calls an exclusive tea. It is a green tea first, with soursop as its companion.
Soursop is the large green fruit with a prickly, spined skin that hangs from the branches in the box artwork, painted among glossy leaves and pale yellow blossoms. Beside it sits a blue-and-white lidded cup and saucer, a quiet nod to the Chinese style of green tea preparation named on the pack.
Each of the 50 bags carries a string and a Mlesna tag, and the olive-gold box is printed with the Mlesna crest and the house line Naturally the Best. The soursop fruit, the blossom and the porcelain cup wrap around every side, so the box looks as considered on a shelf as it does handed over as a gift.
