Ceylon Chai Tea from Malwatte mixes black tea with whole-spice flavours from the company that also grows pepper, cinnamon and cardamom in Sri Lanka. It comes in a black stand-up pouch with a red label, 100g net weight.
The front of the pouch lists what goes in: pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger and tea. The result is a warm, spiced cup that suits milk and sugar.
In the pouch
- 100g of spiced Ceylon black tea
- Stand-up pouch carrying the Ceylon Tea lion mark
How to brew
Use one heaped teaspoon per cup with freshly boiled water and brew for 4 to 5 minutes, then strain. For a milky chai, top up with hot milk and sweeten to taste with sugar or jaggery.
Storage
Seal the pouch well after use and keep it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
