Link Natural Osupan is a Sri Lankan herbal drink blend made from five plants that have a long place in the country's Ayurvedic tradition. The 50 g resealable pouch holds a loose blend registered with Sri Lanka's Department of Ayurveda and produced by Link Natural Products at their GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified facility in Kapugoda.
The five ingredients are drawn from specific plant parts rather than whole-plant material: the aerial parts of Polpala (Aerva lanata) and Neeramulliya (Asteracantha longifolia); the flowers of Ranawara (Cassia auriculata); the stem of Iramusu (Hemidesmus indicus); and the immature whole fruit of Beli (Aegle marmelos). Each of these plants is native to or widely cultivated across South and South-East Asia, and several of them have been sun-dried and brewed as everyday beverages in Sri Lanka for generations.
Preparing a cup is straightforward. Measure one teaspoonful of the blend into a cup, pour in boiling water, cover the cup and leave it for three minutes, then strain and drink. The flavour suits those who prefer something earthy and mild rather than strongly astringent; a small amount of sugar or jaggery rounds it off pleasantly if you prefer a slightly sweet note.
Once the pouch is opened, transfer any unused blend to a closed container to preserve its character. The stand-up resealable pouch makes this manageable, and the 50 g quantity gives a reasonable number of servings from a single pack.
