Green Elephant OPA from Battler is a high grown Ceylon green tea in a 100 g tin caddy. It is part of the Ceylon Elephant range, where each tea is named after an elephant and a tea region or style.
OPA (Orange Pekoe A) is a leaf grade for long, bold leaves that are rolled lengthwise rather than broken. In this tea the rolled green leaf gives a clean, grassy liquor with fresh vegetal notes. The tin keeps light and moisture out between cups and can be refilled afterwards.
In the pack
- 100 g of loose leaf Ceylon green tea, OPA grade
- Sealed tin caddy
- Shelf life of three years from packing, per the maker
Tasting notes
- Leaf: long, rolled green leaf
- Liquor: pale and clear
- Taste: clean and grassy, with a light vegetal finish
How to brew
Use one teaspoon (about 2.5 g) of leaf per cup and water at about 80 C, just off the boil. Steep for 2 to 3 minutes and strain; longer steeping turns green tea bitter.
Serving ideas
Best taken plain. Try it with a slice of lemon, or brew it a little stronger and pour over ice.
