Basilur White Moon is a loose leaf Milk Oolong tea from the brand's Oriental Collection, presented in a decorative folded carton with a foil zip-lock inner pouch. The blend draws on the Chinese tradition of Milk Oolong craftsmanship, combining Ceylon green leaf tea with Milk Oolong of other origin and a natural milk flavour. It is a multi-origin blend, not a single-origin Ceylon tea, and its character reflects that breadth of source material.
In the cup, White Moon is shaped by the lightly oxidised nature of Milk Oolong — a semi-fermented green tea long associated with Chinese tea culture. The natural milk flavour adds a soft, creamy quality, and the floral notes of the oolong come through without any sharpness. The result is a fragrant, gentle cup with a silky texture and a sweetness that sits closer to warm milk than to conventional green tea.
The 100g net weight of loose leaf tea is packed inside a foil zip-lock pouch, which sits within the paisley-printed outer carton. The zip-lock format is designed to hold the aroma between uses, keeping the leaves in good condition across multiple brews. This folded carton format is a distinct product from the White Moon metal tin caddy, which is sold separately.
To brew, use one teaspoon of leaf per cup and water at around 80°C — well off the boil. A steep of two to three minutes is recommended for this packet format. Water that is too hot or a steep that runs too long will flatten the delicate floral and creamy notes, so a little attention to timing repays itself in the cup.
The product is packed in Sri Lanka by Basilur Tea Export (PVT) Ltd. It contains natural milk flavour, and buyers with a sensitivity or allergy to milk should note this before purchasing. White Moon sits alongside other variants in the Oriental Collection, a range that gathers distinct tea styles and flavours from across Asia into a single series.
