Nestled along the South Western Coastal belt of Sri Lanka, The Surf — also known as Lihiniya Surf — is a beachfront resort that combines friendly hospitality with a setting overlooking what is regarded as the longest stretch of beach on the south west coast of the island. The video offers a glimpse of its relaxed seaside atmosphere, where air-conditioned rooms, open gardens and the sound of the ocean set the tone for a genuine beach holiday.

The resort sits approximately 64 km from Colombo, a drive of roughly one to one and a half hours along the scenic Galle Road. Bentota itself is well known as a holiday beach resort town, making it a natural base for travellers seeking both rest and activity along this stretch of coastline.

Accommodation

Lihiniya Surf offers 86 rooms and suites in total, each designed to make the most of its coastal position. The breakdown comprises 31 air-conditioned standard rooms, 52 air-conditioned superior rooms and 3 air-conditioned suites, all appointed with modern amenities. Every room and suite is said to carry a view of the broad beach that stretches along the property's frontage.

Dining and Facilities

The resort's spacious restaurant serves a wide array of dishes, and barbecue dinners by the pool or seafood meals on the beach can be arranged on request. Weddings and special events may also be organised for guests who wish to mark an occasion in a beachside setting.

For those who prefer quieter pursuits, the hotel's own garden and the wide beach adjacent to it offer ample space for a leisurely stroll or an afternoon of relaxation. An outdoor swimming pool and a licensed diving centre cater to more active guests. The property's Ayurvedic retreat takes a comprehensive approach to physical, spiritual and mental wellbeing, offering treatments developed with care. With guidance from an Ayurvedic Physician, visitors are welcomed at the Herbal Center to learn about the medicinal herbs, trees and flowers that form the basis of the oils and treatments used in Ayurvedic practice.

Excursions

The resort arranges tour packages to a variety of destinations across the island. Day trips can be made southward to the historic city of Galle, or to Hikkaduwa, which is known as a haven for marine life enthusiasts on account of its coral gardens and lively underwater world. Glass-bottomed boats and diving gear are available for hire to explore the reef. Nature lovers may find the Sinharaja Forest Reserve particularly rewarding; Sinharaja is considered one of the largest rainforests in this part of the region. Further afield, tours can be organised to the Cultural Triangle, taking in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla and Sigiriya — sites that together reflect a rich history of royalty and heritage.
