No. 77 Leyn Baan is a restored 120-year-old house inside the UNESCO-listed Galle Fort, five steps from the ramparts, run by The One Group of Hotels as a private villa. It covers some 6,000 sq ft around three courtyards, with arched rooms, old masonry and a collection of contemporary art.
Four suites: the Master Suite (super king bed, bathtub), the Lighthouse Suite (king bed, bathtub), the Green Suite (queen bed, bathtub) and the Leyn Baan Suite (queen bed, rain shower), all air-conditioned. The villa is let whole with a private butler, and has formal and informal living rooms, a movie room and a rooftop terrace.
The villa can arrange a walking tour of the Fort with a local guide, mask-carving and cookery sessions, puppet shows, sunset sailing and whale watching.
Colombo Airport (CMB) is about 2 hours by road; a seaplane to Koggala or a helicopter transfer can also be arranged.
