A children's story in Sinhala, written by Prof. Kusuma Karunaratne and drawn from a Japanese folk tale. The text is entirely in Sinhala, so readers outside Sri Lanka should be comfortable with the language before ordering.
The story is built around a fox cub called Uchi. A fox, in the usual telling, stands for cunning — that is the picture the word brings to mind. This story turns a young reader's attention towards such an animal with sympathy and affection instead, which is the point of retelling it for children.
Published in Colombo by M. D. Gunasena & Co. (Pvt) Ltd, a Sinhala and English language publishing house, and suitable for young children reading in Sinhala or being read to at home or in the classroom.
