About this experience
Step into a private, air-conditioned vehicle and head inland from Negombo for a full-day exploration of two of Sri Lanka's most iconic ancient sites. Your English-speaking chauffeur guide collects you directly from your hotel and drives you to the Dambulla Cave Temple — a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved into a granite outcrop in the 1st century BCE. Walk through its rock-hewn chambers, originally built as retreats for meditating monks, and take in the intricate shrines preserved across the centuries.
From Dambulla, continue to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the dramatic 5th-century citadel rising 200 metres above the surrounding jungle. Explore the site and visit the on-site museum at your own pace, with two 500 ml water bottles per person to keep you refreshed across the 12-hour day. Lakpura arranges hotel pickup and drop-off, so there's nothing to organise on your end. Entrance tickets to both sites are purchased separately on the day.
