O tej atrakcji
Explore the wild countryside around Sigiriya on this private guided cycling tour. Your guide meets you at your hotel in Sigiriya at 8:30 am with good mountain bikes and helmets, then leads you along small foot trails through unspoilt countryside where monkeys and deer wander freely in the foliage. The trail is neither wide nor level, which makes this a proper cross-country ride, but your guide manages the route throughout so there are no major obstacles. Expect village life, paddy fields, rivers, sweeping views and a beautiful waterfall along the way.
As you ride towards Sigiriya Rock Fortress, your guide tells the history and legends of the fortress and of King Kasyappa, who ruled here in the 5th century AD. You may pass the occasional ruin of his kingdom, and you can ask to stop for a closer look or photographs where it is safe to do so. After viewing the rock fortress you return to your bikes and pedal back to the start, finishing at about 11:00 am. The whole route is about 18 km and takes two to three hours. Mountain bikes and helmets, an experienced cycling guide, one bottle of water per person and insurance cover of up to Rs 500,000 per person are included. Minimum age is eight years. Food and drinks beyond the included water, gratuities and personal expenses are not included.
