Red sandalwood powder from Bowatte, a 100 g pack of finely ground heartwood of the red sandalwood tree (Pterocarpus santalinus). The tree is also called red sanders, rath handun in Sinhala and raktha chandana in Sanskrit, and is known for the deep red colour of the wood at the centre of its trunk.

How it is used
For a face mask, the powder is mixed with rose water, aloe vera gel, a hydrosol or plain water into a paste, applied to the face and rinsed off.
