Accepted Answer

Madu Ganga is a UNESCO-listed lagoon and wetland near Balapitiya on the west coast. It is one of the most popular half-day excursions on the west coast.

For visitors travelling between May and October, the east coast is the better choice. Trincomalee, Pasikudah, and Arugam Bay all have calm, clear conditions during these months when the south-west monsoon affects the west coast. Kalpitiya on the north-west coast is also excellent for kitesurfing during this period.

Question 8

Do I need a certification to scuba dive in Sri Lanka?

Accepted Answer

No certification is needed for an introductory or 'try dive', which is supervised throughout by a qualified instructor. For independent diving, a PADI Open Water or equivalent certification is required.
