Link Natural
Link Natural Products is a Sri Lankan maker of herbal and Ayurvedic products, founded in 1982. The company combines the traditional formulas of Ayurveda with modern research and development, and its range now runs to more than 200 products: everyday health care, Ayurvedic pharmaceuticals, and personal care and wellness. Its production facility is at Dompe, in the Gampaha District. Here it is the Sri Lankan pack, shipped worldwide from Sri Lanka.
Household names. Link Samahan is the company's best-known product: a herbal drink of 14 herbs, among them coriander, ginger, long pepper, black pepper, cumin, liquorice and adhatoda, packed in single-serve 4 g sachets. Link Sudantha is a herbal toothpaste made with nine herbal ingredients. For the scalp there are Hair Care Cool, a scented coconut oil with nine herbs, natural menthol and natural vitamin E, and Akalapalitha, a mildly perfumed herbal hair oil on a sesame oil base.
Herbal teas. Five Herbs and Osupan blend five herbs Sri Lankans have brewed as a drink for centuries: iramusu, beligata, ranawara, polpala and neeramulliya. Both are caffeine free and can be taken at any time of day, plain or with a little jaggery. There is also a gotukola herbal tea in tea bags.
Classical Ayurvedic preparations. Link Natural also makes the formulas of the Sri Lankan Ayurveda pharmacopoeia under their traditional names: arishta and asava, the slowly fermented herbal liquids such as Dashamoolarishtaya, Ashokarishtaya and Draksharishtaya; kwatha decoctions such as Dashamoola Kwatha and Sudarshana Kwatha; thaila oils for massage such as Mahanarayana, Pinda, Kedum Bindum and Neelyadee; ghee-based gruthaya such as Brahmee Gruthaya; herbal syrups such as Vasaka and Thulsi; and powders such as Triphala Churna.
Link Natural's herbal skin, body and hair care is sold as a separate range, Earth Essence.
The classical preparations are Ayurvedic medicines: use them only as directed by a qualified Ayurvedic physician, and ask one before use in pregnancy, while breastfeeding or for children.
