Pinda Thailaya — known in Sinhala as පිණ්ඩ තෙලය and in Tamil as பிண்ட தைலம் — is a classical Ayurvedic oil formulation produced by Link Natural Products (Pvt.) Ltd under their Link Natural brand. It is a registered Ayurvedic pharmaceutical, carrying a Sri Lanka Ayurvedic Drug Corporation registration number on the label, and is manufactured to GMP standards at Link Natural's production facility in Sri Lanka. The product is for external application only.
The name itself carries the logic of the formulation. In Sanskrit, 'Pinda' refers to a bolus or mass and 'Thailam' means oil — a reflection of the classical method in which herbs are processed within a base of sesame oil until fully integrated. The SLADC-registered ingredient list for Pinda Thailaya draws on a set of botanicals documented in classical Ayurvedic literature: Hemidesmus indicus (Iramusu), Rubia cordifolia (Wel-madata), Vateria copallifera (Hal Dummala), and natural beeswax (Mee iti), all processed in sesame oil (Thala thel) as the carrier base. The inclusion of beeswax gives the oil a characteristically thicker consistency that sets it apart from most other Ayurvedic topical oils.
Link Natural Products was established in 1982 and today carries a portfolio of more than two hundred products spanning Ayurvedic pharmaceuticals, herbal healthcare, essential oils, and oleoresins. The company holds a range of internationally recognised quality certifications including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000, among others. Link Natural received the Best Exporter — Herbal and Ayurveda award at the Sri Lanka Export Development Board's Presidential Export Awards 2022/23.
Pinda Thailaya is sold in an amber glass bottle with a green screw cap — a format that protects the oil from light degradation. It is available in three sizes: 30 ml, 180 ml, and 750 ml, making it practical whether you are trying the product for the first time or replenishing a regular supply. The method of use is to apply the oil directly to the skin and massage it into the area. As a registered Ayurvedic pharmaceutical, the label carries its own directions; these should be followed as printed.
